About This Spot

Nestled just opposite the green in the heart of Great Ayton, Stamps Coffee Shop welcomes you with the gentle hum of conversation and the soothing aroma of freshly brewed coffee. It’s a place where time seems to slow, inviting visitors to settle in beneath soft lighting and embrace the quiet comfort of simple, honest hospitality. Whether you drift in for a moment of calm with a book or gather with friends to linger over shared stories, the atmosphere is quietly affirming — unhurried and sincere.

The pace here is measured, unpretentious, reflecting the warm rhythms of a close-knit community. Natural light filters softly through the windows, hinting at the leafy courtyard out back where dog owners and families find ease in the fresh air. Inside, the comforting clink of teacups and the rustle of newspaper pages enrich the serene setting, while attentive, friendly staff provide an unobtrusive but genuine welcome.

Stamps’ menu feels like a thoughtful collection of familiar favorites made with care — from morning pastries that still carry the warmth of the oven, to hearty breakfasts that offer something for every preference and pace. The richness of a perfectly poured cappuccino, the gentle earthiness of green tea, or the indulgent sweetness of a freshly baked scone with clotted cream all speak to a kitchen tuned into both tradition and the everyday joy of good ingredients.

It’s the kind of place where personalized touches matter: the milk in your coffee chosen with care, accommodating dietary needs without fuss, and small moments of kindness that make you feel seen as more than just another customer. Here, food and drink aren’t just fuel — they’re an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and soak in the gentle rhythms of village life.

Comfortable place. Went with family but I was the only one that couldn't be catered for with food as I'm dairy free. Due to my health. Got a great coffee with oat milk.

This place has such a warm, cozy vibe perfect for studying, catching up with a friend, or just enjoying some peaceful time alone. The coffee is always rich and smooth and their pastries are fresh and delicious. Staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome the moment you walk in.

Came here on Friday morning for brunch with my family, usually we love it here. Unfortunately on this occasion, the service was slower than usual with some items being forgotten until we asked about them. Nice eggs benedict but not as good as previous occasions. May take some time before rushing back.

What lovely staff!! Warm, friendly, helpful, welcoming, can't do enough for you. Lovely little place opposite the green in Great Ayton. Homemade scones, I had the blueberry one, freshly made that morning and a pot of green tea to whet the whistle. Really good range of cakes; breakfasts available all day; vegetarian options; children's menu; outdoor seating in rear courtyard; reasonably priced. Very clean. Prompt service. The staff alone would make you want to return. An easy 5 star from me.

Love this place! The coffee is always spot-on and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Service is quick, but they still take the time to make you feel looked after. Easily my favourite coffee spot in town!
